Can I run Astro's CLI on Windows, but without the subsystem for Linux (WSL)?

I work on Windows and unfortunately can’t use the Linux subsystem. I have some virtual machines running VirtualBox on my computer, so I can’t install a Linux subsystem.

So I first have to configure a Linux VM that meets all necessary requirements (GO, Docker) so I can use the CLI. I tried this months ago, but didn’t get a final result. You don’t happen to have a ready VM that you can use?

You sure can! Check out our Windows Install Guide for details.

Note: This is only available for CLI versions v0.8.x onward. If you’re running Astronomer Cloud on an earlier version, you won’t be able to do so as a non-WSL user.
